Hawaii is known for its breathtaking natural beauty, including its lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and stunning beaches. If you're looking for a vacation combining relaxation and adventure, Hawaii is the perfect destination. You can explore Hawaii's diverse and spectacular nature on each island and discover some of the world's most impressive sights and experiences. Here are some of the top natural wonders in Hawaii, including recommendations for the best hiking trails, scenic drives, and outdoor adventures. Oahu: Rainbows, Sunsets, and BlowholesOahu is the most populous and visited island in Hawaii, and it offers a variety of natural attractions for every taste and mood. One of the most common and beautiful sights on Oahu are rainbows, which frequently appear due to the contrast between sunny coasts and rainy mountains. You can see rainbows almost anywhere on the island, but some of the best spots are in the valleys facing the south shore, such as Manoa, Palolo, Pahoa, and Nuuanu. Another spectacular sight on Oahu is sunsets, which paint the sky with vibrant colors every evening. You can watch the sunset from any beach on the island, but some of the best locations are Waikiki Beach. You can also enjoy concerts and entertainment.; at Makaha or Waianae on the west coast, you can see dolphins and whales, and at Sunset Beach on the North Shore, where you can also catch big waves. A third natural wonder on Oahu is the Halona Blowhole, a hole in a rock formation that connects to the ocean. When the waves hit the rocks, the water is forced into the hole and shoots up into the air with a loud whooshing sound. The blowhole is located on the east coast of Oahu between Hanauma Bay and Sandy's Beach. Maui: Rodeo, Music, and VolcanoesMaui is known for its scenic beauty and laid-back vibe and hosts some of the best natural wonders in Hawaii. One is Haleakala National Park, which covers much of Maui's east side. The park is home to Haleakala Volcano, one of the world's largest dormant volcanoes. You can hike or drive to the summit of Haleakala and watch the sunrise or sunset over a sea of clouds. You can also explore the diverse ecosystems within the park, such as rainforests, deserts, and cinder cones. Another natural wonder on Maui is Iao Valley State Park, in central Maui. The park features Iao Needle, a 1,200-foot-tall green peak that rises from the valley floor. The park also has a botanical garden, a cultural center, and a stream that flows through a gorge. A third natural wonder on Maui is Hana Highway, a scenic drive connecting Kahului to Hana on Maui's east coast. The highway winds through lush rainforests, waterfalls, and dramatic seascapes. The highway has over 50 bridges and 600 curves, so you'll want to drive slowly and carefully. You can stop at Keanae Peninsula, Wailua Falls, and Wai'anapanapa State Park attractions. Big Island: Lava, Waterfalls, and BeachesThe Big Island is Hawaii's largest and most diverse island, offering a range of natural wonders to explore. One of the most unique and awe-inspiring places on the Big Island is Volcanoes National Park, home to two active volcanoes: Kilauea and Mauna Loa. You can witness one of nature's most incredible shows: lava flowing from the volcano into the ocean, creating new land. You can hike or drive to various viewpoints within the park or take a helicopter or boat tour to see the lava up close. The park is open 24 hours a day, but you'll need to make reservations in advance for some tours. Another natural wonder on the Big Island is Akaka Falls State Park, located on the island's northeast coast. The park features two stunning waterfalls: Akaka Falls and Kahuna Falls. Akaka Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in Hawaii, plunging 442 feet into a gorge. Kahuna Falls is a smaller but equally beautiful waterfall that drops 100 feet into a pool. You can access both waterfalls via a short, easy hike through a tropical rainforest. A third natural wonder on the Big Island is Papakolea Beach or Green Sand Beach. This beach is one of only four green sand beaches in the world, and it gets its color from olivine crystals that erode from a nearby cinder cone. The beach is located on the island's south coast, requiring a 2.5-mile hike or a four-wheel drive vehicle. Once there, you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing on this rare and beautiful beach. Hawaii is a paradise for nature lovers, with countless natural wonders to explore and admire. Whether you're looking for volcanoes, waterfalls, beaches, or rainbows, you can find them all on each island. Remember to respect the environment and follow the safety guidelines when visiting these fantastic places. We hope you enjoyed our blog post about exploring the natural wonders of Hawaii. Did you know that Iolani Palace was so technologically advanced that it had electricity before the White House? That's right! The Iolani Palace isn't just a gorgeous building with a fascinating history. It's also an innovative marvel that was way ahead of its time! The palace was built in 1882 and was one of the first buildings in Hawaii to have electricity. Can you believe that?! Just a few years after Thomas Edison demonstrated the first practical incandescent light bulb in 1879, the palace already had electric lighting installed. But wait, there's more! The palace also had a telephone system installed in 1887, which was practically unheard of in those days. It was so fancy that the palace even had its own in-house telephone exchange. Palace employees would connect calls between the palace and other parts of Honolulu. Can you imagine how exciting that must have been for the people who lived there? In addition to all of that, the palace also had some other incredible features that made it an ultra-modern building for its time. It had indoor plumbing, which was super rare at the time, and the bathrooms were fitted with the latest technology, including flushing toilets and hot and cold running water. Plus, the palace had a central ventilation system that circulated fresh air throughout the building, keeping it cool in the tropical Hawaiian climate. All of these amazing features made Iolani Palace an incredibly advanced building for its time and a true marvel to behold. The view of Diamond Head from Duke Kahanamoku Beach right in front of you is 100% paradise! Duke Kahanamoku Beach, which has been selected the No. 1 beach in the U.S. in the past, is a wonderful beach right in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village and is my favorite beach.

No doubt we are in business and ready to show you around the Beautiful Island of OAHU! We had a near miss this weekend with the incoming North Swell. Unfortunately, the peak of the swell will arrive in the night time on Monday night. Conditions will not be up to par and the contest is off... for now. However, the holding period for the contest continues until February 29. So fingers crossed that we will get another whopper of a swell sometime soon!
Regardless, get up to the North Shore on Monday or Tuesday to see the freesurfers at Waimea. Conditions should be pretty nice for a little exhibition! https://www.theeddieaikau.com/ https://www.surfnewsnetwork.com/
