Planning on snorkeling while you are in Hawaii? Oahu offers many great snorkeling destinations, the most popular being Hanauma Bay. With over 1 Million visitors annually, it is our most visited park. The beach sits at the bottom of a volcanic cone from which the beautiful reef extends out into a pristine bay. Great for snorkelling straight off the beach, visitors are delighted with a wide variety of wildlife. Unicorn Fish, Parrot Fish, Eels, and Sea Turtles are just a few of the many species present in the Bay. Generally speaking, Hanauma Bay receives a rush of tourists and locals in the morning. The parking lot will reach maximum capacity and the parking attendants won’t allow you to drive down to the bay until the morning crowd begins to trickle out. Sometime around mid day, things mellow, and there is rarely a situation in which you can’t immediately enter the park during the afternoon. The park is open 6am-6pm and is closed all day on Tuesday. Visitors can rent snorkels and masks on site or bring their own.
