The Iolani Palace VS the White House

Did you know that Iolani Palace was so technologically advanced that it had electricity before the White House? That's right!  The Iolani Palace isn't just a gorgeous building with a fascinating history. It's also an innovative marvel that was way ahead of its time! The palace was built in 1882 and was one of the first buildings in Hawaii to have electricity. Can you believe that?! Just a few years after Thomas Edison demonstrated the first practical incandescent light bulb in 1879, the palace already had electric lighting installed.
But wait, there's more! The palace also had a telephone system installed in 1887, which was practically unheard of in those days. It was so fancy that the palace even had its own in-house telephone exchange. Palace employees would connect calls between the palace and other parts of Honolulu. Can you imagine how exciting that must have been for the people who lived there?
In addition to all of that, the palace also had some other incredible features that made it an ultra-modern building for its time. It had indoor plumbing, which was super rare at the time, and the bathrooms were fitted with the latest technology, including flushing toilets and hot and cold running water. Plus, the palace had a central ventilation system that circulated fresh air throughout the building, keeping it cool in the tropical Hawaiian climate. All of these amazing features made Iolani Palace an incredibly advanced building for its time and a true marvel to behold.
