We had a near miss this weekend with the incoming North Swell. Unfortunately, the peak of the swell will arrive in the night time on Monday night. Conditions will not be up to par and the contest is off... for now. However, the holding period for the contest continues until February 29. So fingers crossed that we will get another whopper of a swell sometime soon!
Regardless, get up to the North Shore on Monday or Tuesday to see the freesurfers at Waimea. Conditions should be pretty nice for a little exhibition!
The 2019 Honolulu Surf Film Festival is will be running until August 4 at the Doris Duke Theater (Honolulu Art Museum). Check out one of many new films by the best in the business, or even catch a classic. This year's throwback is Endless Summer II, showing on Aug 3 @ 7:30pm. See the link below to view the lineup.
Summertime ocean conditions on the North Shore are calm and perfect for snorkeling. There are many great spots along the Kamehameha Highway that offer great diving conditions for all ages and skill levels. The biodiversity is pretty mind blowing! Take time during your tour to get in the water and learn about all of the amazing species that exist in our waters!
Oahu offers so many fun activities and delicious food from all over the world! Why not combine the two? Our favorite tours involve doing the things that we would be doing on our days off. Choose to hike, snorkel, surf, or all three in one day. Next, grind (this means eat great food here in Hawaii)! We know the spots, the hidden gems, the hole in the walls where you can find real, local experiences and food without the Waikiki prices. Everything is totally flexible here at HI Private Tours. We will take you to do whatever you like, but what we recommend is to get outside and take in the nature. Then, go grind! Rinse, and repeat.
Memorial Day weekend kicks off the summer with festivities, parades, and of course, the Lantern Floating Ceremony. Come catch the sunset on Monday, May 27th at Ala Moana Beach Park. Located just outside Waikiki, this is an amazing, once a year experience. It truly is a sight to see!
Looking for a great musical experience while visiting Oahu?
Night life might not be the first thing that comes to mind while vacationing in Hawaii, but Honolulu has a pretty great scene. There are a number of great venues in town, some featuring mostly local acts and others specializing in traveling bands. Check out the links below to find out what's happening while you are on Oahu!
Eager to try out surfing while you are in Hawaii? Try out the North Shore in the off season. The waves are manageable for beginners in the spring and summer months. The crowds are much thinner than Waikiki and the instructors up here are top notch! Incorporate a 1-2 hour surf lesson into your circle island tour of Oahu! We can accommodate just about any request for our customizable tours.
Prince Kuhio day is coming up Tuesday, March 26th. This is a Hawaiian State Holiday and the festivities begin early. The parade will begin at 9:30 AM and will go right down Kalakaua Ave on Waikiki Beach. There will be vendors, music, food and more. Learn all bout this dignified statesman who served in U.S. Congress and established some of the earliest measures to protect the Hawaiian people from the influence of colonialism.
Are you arriving to Oahu hours before your room will be ready for check in? Why not book a Windward and City Tour with HI Private Tours? We will pick you up at the Airport, you can stash your luggage in the back of one of our vans and hit the ground running with an introduction to the Kaiwi Coastline, Halona Blowhole, Waimanalo, Kailua, Pali Lookout, Iolani Palace, and Chinatown. Sometimes after a long flight, our guests would rather just get some authentic street food, see the city sights, and purchase some groceries before check in time.
Whatever you would like to do with your first day on the island, we want to make it as enjoyable and as comfortable as possible! We can also help you maximize your last day on the island.
