Why planning Oahu feels harder than it should
Between guidebooks, blogs and must-do lists, a Hawaii trip gets complicated fast. Then you land and reality hits. Parking in Waikiki often costs more per day than the rental car itself, and driving yourself means navigating unfamiliar roads, hunting for a spot at every stop and trying to time everything just right. Beaches fill, tour times collide, and the day you pictured turns into a string of logistics.
That is the problem the planner is built to solve. You tell us your must-sees, must-dos and must-eats, and we plan your dream tour around them. Every tour we run is 100% private and fully customizable: just your group, your pace and a local guide who knows the island. If you want the quick version of the island first, our hidden gems guide and the Things To Do page are good places to collect ideas.

The four steps
| Step | What you choose | What the planner does |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Guests and vehicle | How many people are coming | Picks the vehicle for you: a Toyota Sienna for 1 to 6 guests ($100 per hour) or a Mercedes Sprinter for up to 14 ($125 per hour) |
| 2. Pickup location | Waikiki hotel, airport, cruise terminal, Ko Olina, Turtle Bay or another address | Waikiki hotel pickup and return is included; the other pickups add one hour |
| 3. Your stops | Start from a preset course or tick your own stops | Totals the hours, draws the route on a map and builds a timeline of drive and stop times |
| 4. Your details | Dates, start and end time, special requests, contact info | Sends us your inquiry and emails you a copy |
Planner estimates use a 4-hour minimum and do not include gratuity. Optional entry fees, such as Byodo-In Temple, are listed on the stop itself.
A realistic example day
Say you are four people staying in Waikiki who want the best of the east side and the windward coast, with no rushing. In the planner you would choose 4 guests (it picks the Sienna), Waikiki hotel pickup, and start from the East Oahu + Windward preset, then trim it to the stops you care about. A day like this might include:
- Diamond Head for the first photo stop of the morning
- Halona Blowhole and Sandy Beach along the coast
- Makapuu Lookout for the turquoise view toward the offshore islands
- Byodo-In Temple, a 30-minute visit in the Valley of the Temples
- Tropical Farms macadamia nut farm for a free tasting
- Kualoa Ranch and Chinaman's Hat for the big mountain-and-ocean finish
The planner adds up the drive time and stop time for you. For these six stops it works out to roughly three and a half hours of driving and visiting, so you can see right away whether the day fits your window, and add or drop a stop until it does. Want to make it longer? Add lunch at the Kahuku food trucks or an hour in Haleiwa and watch the timeline update.

Use it as a starting point, not a final answer
Think of the planner as a way to get a basis for how many hours you really need. Look at the map for the recommended route, and read the timeline for how the day flows. Then, when you are ready for a specific quote, send it in. You get a copy in your inbox, and we reply with availability, fine-tune the stops with you and send a secure link to reserve your date. The inquiry is not a booking, and you pay nothing until you reserve.

A few tips that make the plan better: put your must-do first, so we build the day around it; tell us if anyone has mobility needs, little kids or a hard stop for a flight, cruise or dinner; and add a special request for anything the stop list does not cover, such as a food you have to try or a beach you have your heart set on. Make it a full day
Most guests plan one anchor activity and let us fill in the rest. That anchor can be a luau or sunset cruise in the evening, a snorkel or shark dive, horseback riding, an ATV ride or a surf lesson on the North Shore. The planner has presets for several of these, and you can book the activity itself with the operator while we build the private day around it. If you are staying on the west side, our Ko Olina guide shows how to pair resort days with one long island day. Looking for budget ideas to sprinkle in? See our free things to do.

Dream Tour Planner FAQ
Is the Dream Tour Planner free?
Yes. It is free to use, and sending your plan to us is an inquiry, not a booking. No payment is taken at that step.
Do I get a copy of what I send?
Yes. A copy goes to the email address you enter, and we reply with availability and next steps.
How is the estimate calculated?
By the number of hours your stops need and the vehicle for your group size: $100 per hour for the Sienna (1 to 6 guests) or $125 per hour for the Sprinter (up to 14), with a 4-hour minimum. Gratuity and any optional entry fees are extra.
What if my hotel is not in Waikiki?
Pick the closest pickup in step 2. Airport, cruise terminal, Ko Olina and Turtle Bay pickups add one hour to the estimate.
Can I change the stops after I send it?
Yes. We firm up the itinerary with you before you reserve, so tell us what to add, drop or reorder.
What is the cancellation policy?
Full refund 72 or more hours before your tour. Inside 72 hours, and for no-shows, it is not refundable.
