Haleiwa (pronounced: ha-lay-ee-vah) is the eclectic little village on the North Shore of Oahu. Rustic and indelibly charming, Haleiwa is home to a different way of life. It is the gateway to the stretch of coastline known as the “Seven Mile Miracle,” Surfing’s Mecca. A former pani’olo (Hawaiian Cowboy) area, these days Haleiwa is home to a community of surfers, artists, and do-it-yourselfers. Visit a variety of very quaint art galleries, coffee shops, boutiques, surf shops, and small restaurants. Grab some shave ice at Matsumoto’s. Want to hit the beach while you are in Haleiwa? Home to the first leg of the Triple Crown of Surfing, Ali’i Beach park is just on the edge of town. Baywatch Hawaii Fans? That’s right. This is the beach.
